Finding us
Please see our friendly office staff on arrival.
Our address is 27-29 Hoddle street, however the main entrance is through Little Hoddle St, parallel and behind the front of the building. Once you’re in, come through the garden courtyard, into the main house on the left (before the stairs) where you will find our office. From there, our staff can assist you with microphones, leads, and other equipment you may need, and process the payment for your rehearsal session, before directing you to your room or studio.
Session Times
Day session runs 11:30-5pm
Evening session runs 5:30-11pm
Please note: the session times listed include load in & load out time. You will have access to your rehearsal space at either 11.30am or 5.30pm, and must be fully packed up and loading out by 5pm or 11pm, unless otherwise organised with staff prior to your session.
Bakehouse offers an early open option (i.e. studio access prior to 11.30am) for additional fees - get in touch to find out more.
Load in
You can load in from our big doors on Little Hoddle street. To unload your vehicle, please prop against our red wall with hazard lights on, allowing space for thoroughfare traffic to pass. Please do not prop across the buildings opposite to us (especially the grey wooden garage doors) as they need 24hrs access. You’re welcome to leave your gear in our foyer while you load in, however for anything valuable it’s best if you take it straight to your studio or to the office for safe keeping, and please don’t leave anything unattended.
Elevator
For upstairs bookings, you can use our elevator to transport passengers and heavy equipment to the second floor. To locate the elevator, enter via Lt Hoddle St, go through the driveway area and turn left once reaching the courtyard. The elevator can hold 1.150 tons per load, and is 2 metres deep x 1.3 metres wide x 2.2 metres high. Please check in with staff before loading the lift.

We have some non-alcoholic beverages and snacks available for purchase in the office. There’s also plenty of yummy food on Victoria street, and a choice of quick easy Thai takeaway restaurants and Banh Mi. The closest coffee shop is Long Street coffee, on Little Hoddle street down the lane across Elizabeth street. There’s an ALDI and Woolworths 4 mins walk away. If using/delivery uber eats, make sure it comes to the back entrance on Little Hoddle Street
Office Shop
We have a small selection of snacks and beverages, as well as other musical/instrument items for sale such as guitar picks, leads, batteries, picks, 9v power supplies and guitar strings for sale.
Your Room
Each room at Bakehouse comes equipped with PA, FOH speakers and foldback speakers, and a number of mics and stands/leads (with more available for larger rooms). We have a limited number of DIs and extra mics to borrow also, which you can collect from the office on arrival. Please return these items to the office at the conclusion of your session. If you need anything specifically outside of these items please let us know before your booking so we can accommodate if possible.
Security
For peace of mind, we recommend locking your rehearsal room if you’ll be leaving the space for a break. All rehearsal rooms are self-lockable from the outer doors and can then be unlocked by staff when you return. Please note, Bakehouse is located in the inner city area and though our staff will take all care possible, we can not guarantee the security of your belongings if left unattended. We encourage you to label and ensure your equipment is safe during your rehearsals at the studios.
Troubleshooting
If you have any troubles with equipment or hire gear, please find our staff who are on hand to help out. Please do not try to troubleshoot equipment as you will be liable for any damages. Our staff have tuned your PA and set up your room beforehand. Please be aware that moving speakers and furniture can disrupt this set up.
Communal Areas
Bakehouse has a cosy communal kitchen with tea, coffee, milks and biscuits, as well as a fridge and microwave; plates and cutlery. Belfry and Scrap Museum each have their own kitchenette within the room also stocked as above. You are welcome to use the communal kitchen, and we ask that you please respect other patrons by returning dishes to the dishwasher/ sink.
Lost Property
Get in contact if you believe you have lost anything at the studios. The studios are cleaned daily and all miscellaneous items are returned to the office. NB: we recommend that you label any property which may become mixed up with Bakehouse supplies (i.e. guitar stands, microphones, cables).
