FAQ and Terms & Conditions

  • Our address is 27-29 Hoddle street, however the main entrance is through Little Hoddle St, parallel and behind the front of the building. Once you’re in, come through the garden into the main house on the left (before the stairs) where you will find our office. Please always see staff on arrival.

  • During office hours, there is only street parking available - the closest is Elizabeth, Shelley, Regent and Butler with 2hr, 4hr and a few all day spots. Please do not park or stand next door to Bakehouse between 9am and 6pm any day of the week.

Important to note that our excellent neighbours at Kinaway graciously allow us to use their parking between 6pm and midnight each day. Please don’t abuse the privilege and jeopardize this relationship for the sake of our good neighbours and all Bakehouse patrons. Otherwise there is plenty of on street parking in the surrounding area, particularly next to the train station.

DO NOT PARK ANYONE IN PLEASE

To unload your vehicle please prop against our red wall with your hazard lights on, allowing space for through traffic to pass.

If you have any queries about parking options please see staff. Jonas + Butler St now has some all day parking, Elizabeth + Regent now have spaces available from 5pm.

We have a very limited number of parking permits available but will require a small deposit.

There’s also a parking garage for all day paid ($15max) parking on 35 Elizabeth Street (130m from Bakehouse)

  • You can load in from our big doors on Little Hoddle street - you should see our sign out front of the building. Please keep your hazard lights on and park as close to our door as possible next to the red wall. You’re welcome to leave your gear in the undercover driveway while you load in, however for anything valuable it’s best if you take it straight to your studio, or to the office for safe keeping, and please don’t leave anything unattended.

  • All rooms at Bakehouse on the ground floor are wheelchair accessible, with ramps into any raised room. Bathrooms and kitchen are located on the ground floor.

Our upper level studios (Scrap Museum, Belfry and Jezebel) are only accessed by stairs. We’re currently in the process of installing a lift in 2023

Further information can be found in the accessibility tab above

  • If you need to take any heavy loads, or lots of items upstairs we have a goods lift available for use. Please see a staff member who will operate the lift, and note when loading the lift to distribute weight evenly, max load 200kg. Lift is for goods only, no humans. Any questions, please ask staff.

  • You’re welcome to take photos in and around the courtyard or communal areas, however we do have a location fee for any images being taken away from the rooms in Bakehouse. Scrap Museum and The Belfry also have different rates for filming or photography, so please ask our friendly staff for advice

  • Is your booking ‘noise sensitive’?

Are you planning to bring in a theatre group, sensitive recording of podcast, interviews, live filming or an acoustic, classical or un-amplified music rehearsal?

Please speak to our staff about your specific requirements as we may need to customise your booking time or lock out adjoining rooms for quiet, this may incur additional costs.

Although we have extensively soundproofed, Bakehouse is designed for noisy activity and to quote Quincy “Silence is Golden and Gold is valuable”

  • Please immediately report to staff if PA or equipment is not working. Our staff are trained to rectify any issues (and more than happy to help!), so please do not try to troubleshoot yourself or you may be liable for damages.

  • Day sessions run 11:30-5pm

    Night sessions run 5:30pm-11pm

Off-peak rehearsal time includes weekday 11.30am-5pm sessions, and on-peak time includes weekday 5.30pm-11pm sessions and all weekend sessions.

Please note, on certain Public Holidays we will open for your convenience (i.e. Grand Final Day). However, Public Holidays are considered peak time and these dates will attract a 20% surcharge to support paying our treasured staff their due penalty rates. We appreciate your understanding.

  • HEPA FILTERS

Each of the Bakehouse rehearsal rooms is equipped with one or more HEPA Filters to clean the air and keep you safe.

If you need complete silence for rehearsal or recording, set the filter to sleep mode. For further assistance, ask one of our friendly staff.

    AF-WS on HEPA filters:

“HEPA air filters, like the ones selected by Bakehouse Studios, will not only reduce airborne respiratory viruses, they will also help to reduce the impact of other air quality concerns such as traffic pollution, smoke, pollen, and dust. Good news for all everyone, but particularly those suffering from asthma and allergies.
